I found out afterward that the monkey was likely drugged so that it wouldn’t freak out and start biting tourists’ faces, giving everyone rabies. This is very likely the same reason why I didn’t freak out either.

With all the go-go dancers, hookers and drunk fights on the street, I certainly see why someone would want to bring the whole family.
